Essential Job Duties

  • Conduct laboratory-based research studies that develop and demonstrate the separation of multifiber textiles into basic monomers and then re-polymerization creating new fibers and other products.
  • Develop small laboratory-scale equipment required for fiber separation, monomer collection and fiber spinning.
  • Conduct testing and characterize monomers, polymers, and products (filaments, textiles) using chemical and physical testing methods.
  • Prepare reports and presentations as needed.
  • Write technical papers suitable for publication in refereed journals.
  • Develop proposals that seek funding from federal agencies and industry in these related areas of research.

Other Work/Responsibilities

Oversee work of hourly and graduate students working on project.

Work Schedule

M-F 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with some flexibility as needed.
