Position Summary

Salary range for this position is: $82,348/yr. - $$113,719/yr.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, the Director of Assessment is responsible for the college’s assessment and continuous improvement efforts by designing, evaluating, and documenting instructional and non-instructional assessment, and program reviews. The Director of Assessment will lead data training efforts as it pertains to assessment and continuous improvement. The Director of Assessment is also responsible for accreditation activities and compliance for all accrediting bodies, including the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), by preparing required reports, ensuring college compliance to standards, documenting changes and correspondence, and hosting site visits. This position will work to further Seattle Colleges’ antiracist efforts by providing training in strengths-based mindset and working to develop equity-focused metrics and assessment practices.

What you will be working on:

  • In coordination with the Curriculum Coordinating Council (CCC), design and implement instructional assessment methods at the course, program, and institutional level to measure the effectiveness of programs.
  • In coordination with Student Services and Campus Operations, design and implement non-instructional assessment methods to measure the effectiveness of programs, services, and processes.
  • Lead the college and individual units in using assessment results to guide equity-minded improvement in programs and processes.
  • Maintain and build knowledge regarding antiracist practices for instruction and non-instructional assessment; and maintain knowledge regarding Guided Pathways frameworks.
  • Compile and regularly disseminate results of assessment projects, including building and maintaining assessment data dashboards.
  • Design and deliver employee trainings related to assessment, program review, and using data to inform continuous improvement in student success and organizational excellence, including maintaining Canvas courses that support data literacy.
  • Design and lead workshops and discussions on using assessment results for continuous improvement and using data using an equity-based mindset.
  • Maintain knowledge regarding the accreditation standards, policies, and processes of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), including attending relevant training offered by NWCCU.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, lead college wide accreditation efforts including planning and facilitating campus wide accreditation meetings and committees, engaging with college community on accreditation, and ensuring compliance on NWCCU standards.
  • Prepare required institutional accreditation reports and documents including self-studies, evaluation committee reports, schedules of evaluations, and substantive change proposals.
  • Sets strategic and tactical direction for accreditation-related projects and processes to drive quality improvement and mitigate risk.
  • Audits and validates compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Tracks and monitors specialized program accreditation, program licensure approval, and other required or voluntary approvals of academic programs.
  • Maintain documentation, files, and correspondence from NWCCU and other accrediting bodies.
  • Work with college constituencies to monitor, collect, compile, and report annual review processes and action plans as it relates to accreditation, overall institutional effectiveness and mission fulfillment.
  • Coordinate and host site visits from representatives of the NWCCU and assist with preparing the campus community for host site visits from NWCCU.
  • Collaborate on dashboard design and maintenance as it pertains to assessment, program review, and student success. Ensure that dashboards are designed and built with equity focused practices.
  • Serve on college-wide committees including those related to accreditation, assessment, learning outcomes and overall institutional effectiveness as assigned.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities as pertains to employee responsibilities. Work collaboratively across the Seattle College District –including with district Institutional Effectiveness and Guided Pathways groups—on projects and initiatives in support of student success, accreditation, and research needs.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

  • Master’s degree in any field.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in instruction or administration in higher education, preferably at a community or technical college.
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional assessment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with equity-based assessment practices.
  • Demonstrated experience is using, designing, and building data dashboards, preferably in Tableau.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation and training.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain successful and effective relationships with a diverse, multicultural staff.
  • Ability to organize and manage projects including prioritizing multiple tasks to meet ongoing and sometimes competing deadlines.

Physical Requirements:
The Position

  • Typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to Perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office.
  • Encounters frequent interruptions throughout the workday.
  • Is regularly required to provide 1:1 support, present to small groups, and work at a computer exercising repetitive hand motion with or without reasonable accommodation.
