Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder is seeking an externally focused Marketing Manager to help drive growth for our Southern California Construction Materials Engineering and Testing service line. In this position, you will be responsible for marketing our services across multiple markets, meeting with clients and teaming partners, participating in professional external organizations, identifying new opportunities, and planning and positioning to win these opportunities.

Abilities of the Ideal Candidate:

  • Outgoing personality and outward focused.
  • Excellent grasp of marketing fundamentals, visual communications, and knowledge of theoretical and practical developments in the A/E/C industry (experience in the A/E/C market is required).
  • The ability to develop "win themes and integrate them throughout a proposal.
  • Strong grammar, writing, and editing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple assignments under set deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Have a "client service" mindset and work in close partnership with technical professionals (engineers, scientists, and construction professionals).
  • Have strong verbal communication skills and ability to organize, prepare for, and facilitate bi-weekly marketing meetings.
  • Can work independently, collaboratively as part of a team, and in conjunction with senior management/executive staff.
  • Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities, deadlines, and direction in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading marketing efforts for our Construction Materials Engineering and Testing service line across all Kleinfelder offices in Southern California.
  • Identifying new business opportunities: This involves researching potential clients or markets to determine where the company can expand its offerings.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with current and potential clients, partners, and stakeholders across multiple markets (water, transportation, power, commercial).
  • Analyzing market trends and creating sales strategies to help the company achieve its annual goals.
  • Negotiating contracts and deals with clients and partners to ensure that both parties are satisfied with the terms of the agreement.
  • Gathering and analyzing data on industry trends, customer preferences, and competitors to help the company make informed business decisions.
  • Collaborating with other departments within the company to ensure that business goals are aligned.
  • Creating and managing budgets, as well as forecasting expenses.
  • Creating reports and presentations to communicate the company's performance to stakeholders, including senior management and investors.
  • Manage, plan, and coordinate a variety of marketing activities to support business development.
  • Participate in strategic go/no-go decisions for key and growth clients and base input on a systematic review of relevant facts and information.
  • In partnership with others, drive the proposal management and development process of diverse teams towards client-established deadlines that comply with client-set expectations.
  • Create and modify existing materials and write content to effectively communicate services, capabilities, and market messages.
  • Create, gather, research, and organize information from many sources to generate business development documents and presentations.
  • Assist in developing proposal strategies that utilize the company's strengths and innovative thinking to gain a competitive advantage.
  • Assist Southern California Client Account Managers and Project Managers in assessing the needs of client development and implement processes and programs to support these needs.
  • Assist technical professionals in tracking and driving marketing pursuits.
  • Coordinate with internal and external team members.
  • Maintain marketing information systems.

Position Competencies and Requirements:

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to communicate effectively with a variety of people.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Excellent project management and time management skills.
  • Experience with CRM is highly desirable; Deltek preferred.

Experience & Academic Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred (Business, Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field).
  • Experience: 5+ years of professional marketing and/or sales experience with a consulting engineering firm or related business.

Benefits: Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Scale Disclosure Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $57,908 - $96,594 annually.
