Technical Associate I, Irvine Lab
Job Description
TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Irvine Lab, to support ongoing immunoengineering research on the development of cancer immunotherapy and HIV vaccines. Will independently manage and execute weekly production of self-replicating RNA and modRNA constructs used by lab members and collaborators for vaccine research in vitro and in vivo (totaling 1-10mg/week); and research and develop quality control and optimization experiments for high-quality, reproducible RNAs. Responsibilities include independently producing a weekly cohort of RNA--which must be high-quality and produced in a timely manner--for lab members and collaborators for use in vaccine research; assisting with developing novel RNA formulations such as labeled and base-modified RNAs; troubleshooting and optimizing RNA synthesis procedure; and attending lab meetings and journal club.

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related area; at least two years of relevant lab experience (may include experience gained as an undergraduate); excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; comfort analyzing, summarizing, and reporting results to researchers; demonstrated commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional services, and producing accurate and high-quality work; meticulous attention to detail; practiced documentation skills; and awareness of and ability to follow basic safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
