About the Role:

We are seeking an inspired and motivated learner to join our team and actively participate in the exploration and development of innovative methods for early cancer detection.

At Guardant Health, you will be at the forefront of using bioinformatics to improve patient care. You will interact with a diverse team of biologists, data engineers, software engineers, and bioinformaticians to develop statistical models in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply statistical methods and leverage machine learning to analyze large datasets.

  • Create detailed documentation to ensure clarity, transparency, and reproducibility.

  • Contribute as a team member by bringing your unique perspectives and qualities.

  • Further develop your technical and non-technical skills.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Ph.D. program in computer science, computational biology/bioinformatics, or other related fields.

  • Interest in applying analytical methods to solve complex biological problems.

  • Experience working with genomic or epigenomic data.

  • Experience in statistical analysis and machine learning.

  • Experience in Python programming language and standard data science packages.

  • Experience with Linux command line and git.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with high-performance computing infrastructures.

  • 3rd year of PhD or later

Additional Information

Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.We have found aligning our scheduled in-office days allows our teams to do the best work and creates the focused thinking time our innovative work requires. At Guardant, our work model has created flexibility for better work-life balance while keeping teams connected to advance our science for our patients.

For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the hourly range for this full-time position is Undergraduate $29/hr., Graduate $34/hr., and Doctorate $42/hr. The range does not include benefits and, if applicable, overtime, bonus, commission, or equity.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment.Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment.Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
