ASML US, LP brings together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world's leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Wilton, CT, Chandler, AZ, San Jose, CA and San Diego, CA.

The EUV HighNA platform is dependent upon a number of critical suppliers. For one of these suppliers, we are looking for an on-site opto-mechanical tooling designer that supports the supplier in designing the necessary tooling to aid in test and manufacturing or production hardware.

In this role you will be working remotely at the supplier site (Santa Clara, California) for a duration of 1 year.

Role and responsibilities

As a Design Engineer you are responsible for realization of (precision) opto-mechanical tooling and test fixtures, ensuring to meet the specifications in terms of safety, reliability, stability, contamination, cost effectiveness, manufacturability and serviceability. You continuously improve the quality of the opto-mechanical design interfacing with the design engineering and production teams.

You are working with the development department of the supplier on-site (Santa Clara, California), and are supported by an engineering project team located at our headquarters in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.

Your tasks:

  • Design (opto-) mechanical tooling according to functional requirements for the manufacturing of HighNA Scanner components at the supplier.

  • Maintain sub-supplier contact for design and drawing reviews on manufacturability.

  • Define and execute qualification tests, verifying the tooling performance compared to the specifications.

  • Support the supplier with first article production using your tools and ensure proper work instruction and documentation is generated.

Education and experience

  • BS, MS, or PhD in the field of Mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, or Optics

  • 3+ years' experience in opto- and/or precision-mechanical design.

  • Experienced 3D CAD user (preferable UG/NX).

  • Excellent knowledge in the field of manufacturability of optical and mechanical parts and of designing of opto-mechanical - constructions.

  • Experience with geometrical optics, affinity to learn optics.

  • Skilled in technical, correct and effective communication with suppliers.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. * 730, et seq.). The current base annual salary range for this role is currently $98,250-$163,750. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
