DESCRIPTION

This position involves the design, building, testing, and implementation of clinical application systems. Provides support to clinical users through knowledge of clinical processes, documentation needs, workflows, and clinical practice standards, when adapting software to meet their needs. Works with clinicians to create or adapt written protocols. Prepares detailed specs encompassing clinical processes, information flow, risk and impact analysis. May provide customer service, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

The incumbent will apply skills as a seasoned clinical applications professional to design, build, test, implement and maintain clinical application system for perioperative and procedural services. Collaborates with physicians, nurses and techs to design, maintain and refine Epic's Optime and Anesthesia modules to meet their needs through knowledge of surgical and procedural clinical processes, documentation needs, workflows, and clinical practice standards. Prepares detailed specs encompassing clinical processes, information flow, risks, and impact analyses. Develops strategies, policies and procedures for introducing, evaluating and optimizing clinical information technology and work redesign applied to clinical nursing practice. Serves as subject matter experts regarding workflows for Pre/Intra/Post-op workflows for OR and Procedure areas.

Will serve as the subject matter experts regarding nursing/tech workflow documentation best practices. Rounds regularly in the Perioperative and Anesthesia department to acquire feedback in assessing the effectiveness of the information systems and impact on end users' ability to maximize clinical documentation, charge capture, while maximizing the best clinical outcomes. Develops clinical informatics training materials and tip sheets. Provides support for clinical users. Supports medium to large scale projects.

Successful candidate will be required to be certified in Epic OpTime within the first six (6) months of employment and must satisfy all vendor testing requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing plus five (5) years of clinical nursing practice experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience as OR RN with knowledge of Pre/Intra/Post-op workflows and documentation best practices.
  • Professional level experience working with clinical information systems and demonstrated ability to design/refine clinical system tools to optimize workflow functionality for end users.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and document gaps/errors in workflows and collaborate to resolve and proven success in information systems development and support within a large healthcare organization.
  • Strong project management and time management skills with ability to adapt to changing priorities and a dedicated team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • EPIC OpTime Certification
  • Demonstrated experience as a major participant in a clinical system implementation
  • Professional level experience working with SPM (Sterile Processing Microsystems) and Tissue TrackCore

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $91,300 - $170,700 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $43.73 - $81.75

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
