DESCRIPTION

UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is growing in the diverse areas of professional educational programs, cutting-edge research, and pharmacy services. Research areas specific to this position posting are related to pharmacoepidemiology, claims data analysis, pharmaceutical policy, and pharmaceutical health services research. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research professional with a deep understanding of data management, preparation of analytical datasets from raw data, and implementation of advanced statistical analyses using statistical software SAS. Demonstrates rigor in programming, ability for supervising and mentoring other team members in data extraction and data analyses, and independence in selecting methods and techniques for data extraction and analysis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training.

  • Thorough knowledge of research function.

  • Thorough skills associated with statistical analysis and systems programming.

  • Thorough skills in analysis and consultation.

  • Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.

  • Skills in project management.

  • Research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations.

  • Theoretical knowledge of statistics at a level typically acquired by a Master's Degree in Public Health, or the equivalent in education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience doing complex statistical programming.

  • Experience designing, implementing, maintaining and using large and complex databases.

  • Proven ability to research and learn new and developing statistical methods and tools through self-learning, seminars, and other modes of learning.

  • Outstanding organizational and analytical skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Outstanding oral and written interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in problem-solving and critical thinking.

  • Demonstrated experience in training and mentoring of students and junior team members in data analysis and extraction.

  • Skills in using data visualization software and techniques (e.g., R, Prism).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistical computer packages, including SAS.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $82,500 - $151,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $39.51 - $72.56

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
