General Duties:

Drive and operate various specialized vehicles and equipment related to construction operations and maintenance activities. Operates all types of crane vehicles in and around high voltage electrical equipment under the direct supervision of a qualified C&O Journeyman electrical worker. Transports and delivers all types of equipment and material to and from job sites. Perform other duties as required or assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Class-A Driver's License and Class-A Medical Certificate with HazMat, Tanker, and Doubles endorsements.
  • Must become proficient on all vehicles and specialized equipment within 24 months of accepting the position.
  • Must possess and maintain a National Commission for Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) Certification for small and large Boom Trucks (Telescopic Cranes) within 120 days of entering the classification.
  • Must have good safety habits.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the California Public Utilities Commission have adopted regulations governing the control of drug use by persons in certain job classifications. This job is covered by that regulation (49 CFR 199) and candidates who are not already in a covered job classification will be tested for the presence of prohibited drugs and must meet DOT standards before appointment to the job. Candidates who do not successfully pass the drug test will be required to enter a drug rehabilitation program as a condition of returning to their present job.

Wage Schedule:

1st Year $43.10 per hour

2nd Year $44.31 per hour

Thereafter $46.01 per hour

Note: The salary for this position is governed by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement.
