DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, the LVN provides a wide variety of patient care activities in support of clinic activity. This includes lab specimens, starting IV, collecting data, performing EKG and frequent vital signs, administering IV meds within scope, oral medications, injections, performing dressing change, performing glucometer and urine point of care, assisting RNs with procedures, and other activities within LVN scope. The position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize critical demands and work in a team environment. This job requires the LVN to work closely with the Clinical Trials RN several times a week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - issued by the state of California.

  • Certification in Intravenous Therapy issued by the state of California (LVN IV).

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Two (2+) years or more of experience as a vocational nurse in a similar role and setting.

  • Demonstrated LVN experience in direct patient care.

  • Proven skills in accurately taking and recording vital signs, height and weight; administering medication, including injections; interviewing patients; and collecting and/or testing specimens.

  • Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Infusion experience.

  • Outpatient experience.

  • Clinical research experience.

  • Epic Experience.

  • Bilingual: English/Spanish.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Infusion operations is 363/365 days a year: Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs; willing to work overtime as required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $69,322 - $86,193 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $33.20 - $41.28

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
