Intranet Services Manager

Cooley is seeking an Intranet Services Manager to join the Knowledge Management team.

Position summary: Cooley Information Services (IS) embraces a culture of customer service excellence and all members of the department are expected to move this agenda forward. To that end, the Intranet Services Manager is expected to recognize that the Cooley IS department is a service organization first and foremost and will be evaluated on this requirement equal in importance to the technical or operational responsibilities outlined later in this document.

The Intranet Services Manager will manage processes and technology employed to deliver intranet services to the firm, lead and manage a team of Intranet Support Specialists. Ensure that the firm's intranet meets the needs of the business, is best-in-class, and is adequately supported by in-house and outsourced content and technical teams. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position responsibilities:

  • Serve as the platform owner for SharePoint, One Note, and Power Automate. This includes establishing roadmaps, administering, and maintaining the platforms, managing security, and resolving issues
  • Use, maintain, and support third-party applications such as Aderant Handshake, Infodash, and Matomo that are used to extend and support the SharePoint platform
  • Provide expertise and support to technical and business managers and determine how to best to develop, implement, and support SharePoint sites configurations, information architecture, and solutions to meet business needs
  • Create technical documentation for new solutions and procedures and leads change management across the firm with respect to supported platforms
  • In concert with the IS Legal Service Delivery ("LSD") collaboration services team, manage their teams in the handling of new requests and opportunities for enhanced intranet services for the Firm
  • Coordinate with Legal Service Delivery, Service Desk and other training teams within IS and across the Firm to ensure everyone is providing cohesive and aligned training, support and communication services to intranet users
  • In partnership with IS Directors and Associate Directors, continually strive to improve the efficiency and usability of our Microsoft solutions, leveraging ongoing research on emerging development tools and strategies and understanding of the firm's business needs
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for a more efficient and distributed management of intranet content and features; keep content stakeholders engaged and responsible for their content, use cases and audiences
  • Ensure their team of intranet support specialists and have all resources needed to deliver their services to the project and product teams to completion and satisfaction. Assist and guide them, as necessary
  • Manage the team's workload, performance, career development and feedback. Develops and coordinates orientation and training programs for department personnel to ensure that the group receives training necessary for the Firm's needs, and that employees receive developmental opportunities and mentorship
  • Manage departmental budget, forecast and variance processes related to intranet components of the portfolio
  • Serve as direct supervisor and mentor to direct reports
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of direct reports, ensure compliance with assigned work hours and monitor for compliance with all firm and department policies. Manage staffing coverage, review and process time logs/time off requests
  • Support business professional development and continued educational opportunities
  • In collaboration with immediate supervisor and CN HR, participate in hiring, performance appraisals, counseling, termination and other employee lifecycle events
  • All other duties as assigned or required

Skills and experience:

Required:

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications
  • Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
  • Ability to travel, as required
  • 5+ years' experience and expertise in intranet platforms and solutions, specifically SharePoint, Power Apps and One note, including the management of related project and product lifecycles
  • Senior level candidates must have 7+ years applicable experience in the field with 4+ years of management experience in relevant roles. Proven ability to operate at a more senior level in terms of scope of responsibility, judgement, and independent nature)
  • Experience with Delve and Stream
  • Experience building SharePoint applications including web parts, workflows, and third-party interfaces
  • Advanced knowledge of SharePoint security including permissions and access management
  • Ability to create and debug automated workflows using Power Automate
  • Ability to create and debug Power Apps solutions
  • Thorough understanding of SharePoint architecture, information architecture, content management, O365 Azure AD
  • Strong understanding of the industry and firm's business needs as they relate to all aspects of intranet management and support
  • Project management experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Working knowledge of HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Prior large law firm or large management consulting firm experience strongly preferred
  • Supervisory experience

The expected annual pay range for this position is $105,000 - $155,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate. Senior level candidates may be considered for this position and would be eligible for a higher salary range based on experience.
