Primary Purpose

Senior physical security leader for the Sempra family of companies. Directs the development of an effective strategy to mitigate risk, maintain continuity of operations, and safeguard the organization. Directs the security staff in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining the security process across the organization to ensure regulatory compliance, to respond to incidents, and to limit exposure to liability. Contributes to the reduction of losses of proprietary information, physical, and human assets by analyzing the effectiveness of security protection programs and critical incident response, and by advising and recommending to senior management the adoption of appropriate policies and control measures. Analyzes and deploys technology solutions and innovative security management techniques to safeguard personnel and organizational assets.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administers the physical security functions of the company by directing domestic and international staff in criminal and administrative investigations, security and vulnerability assessments of facilities, and the design of new security systems. Manages and leads the workplace violence prevention and training program. Provides security-related advice and expertise to supervisors/managers, directors, attorneys, and officers of the company involving situations related to criminal and administrative matters.
  • Monitors and assesses security threats which may impact company operations. Provides intelligence and investigation resources domestically and internationally and communicates this information to appropriate operating companies in a timely manner. Develops and implements organization-wide security awareness and training programs as appropriate for the business and the culture of the organization.
  • Oversees development of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with physical and cyber security regulations promulgated by DHS, DOE, FERC, NERC, WECC, and CPUC. Interfaces with all Sempra operating companies in the planning, construction, and remodeling to ensure security concerns and regulations are addressed.
  • Oversees a wide network of security vendors who safeguard the company's assets as well as the physical safety of employees and visitors. These include enterprise-wide guard services and security technical services contracts.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with high level law enforcement and international counterparts, to include in-country security agencies, intelligence, and private sector working groups. Works with outside consultants on independent security audits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
