Join us as we continue to maintain the Navy's readiness!This position is for an experienced Diesel Engine Mechanic for the COMNAVAIRPAC Carrier Engineering Maintenance Assist Team (CEMAT). The experienced Mechanic will perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on Diesel Enginesin San Diego, CA.

What You Will Do
  • Perform mechanical repairs on diesel engines.

  • Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs identified during initial inspections and as per the guidance recommended by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance checks along with troubleshooting and training for ships force personnel.

  • Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages to execute repairs.

What You Must Have
  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience. Prefer technical/professional certifications. Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have at least 5 year of experience performing maintenance and repair to Government owned equipment
  • Must have experience with diagnosingand performingall phases of mechanical repairs.
  • Entered work order data onto computer systems, to track and maintain.
  • Generate work packages to show a high quality of work.
  • Must have experience working in a team environment.
  • Must have experience installing, maintaining and repairing marine structural and mechanical systems and associated equipment aboard naval vessels in accordance with technical documentation and naval standards.
  • Must be proficient in the use and reading of various measurement devices including but not limited to rulers and scales, micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.
  • Must have experience using various power tools and hand tools to accomplish tasks including the proper use of torque wrenches to tighten fasteners according to specifications described in technical documentation.
  • Must have knowledge of safety and quality control steps and procedures.
  • Must be able to obtainand maintain a DoD secret security clearance and maintain clearance level throughout employment.
  • Must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date, and maintain credentials throughout employment.
Preferred: Bonus Points For
  • Knowledge of Quality Management System, and the development of formal work packages.

  • Conducted regular preventive maintenance checks, along with troubleshooting and corrective maintenance.

  • 10 years experience as a Diesel Mechanic

  • 10 years of experience with Training & Development

  • 10 years of experience working with Hydraulics

  • 10 years of Heavy equipment operation

  • A current, valid DoD Secret Security clearance or higher.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, noise and dirty conditions. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
