Your Role

The Data Solutions and Services team is responsible for technical design and end-to-end delivery of complex data-driven solutions and data products. The Manager, Data Management will report to the Sr. Manager, Data Solutions and Services. In this role you will be partnering with Enterprise Architects, Portfolio, Analytics and Data engineering teams for building best in class data products. You will play pivotal role by leading data teams that will design and implement end-to-end data engineering, data modelling, data management and data integration methodologies and strategies. You will manage, help and lead the members of your team grow both technically and professionally. Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Provide technical leadership in data modelling and design activities on concurrent complex data projects
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in operational performance and notify management of issues and problems requiring immediate attention
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring to data modelers and data solution leads in designing of data pipelines and implementing large-scale, complex enterprise applications requiring high performance and availability
  • Partner with Portfolio teams to enable, architect, implement and define the technical requirements, principles and models that guide data solution decisions for on-prem, cloud and hybrid ecosystem
  • Design end to end robust, scalable, real time data pipelines and data platform architecture that will support the analytical and reporting needs of the entire organization
  • Lead development of Portfolio development plans, leads in estimating effort required for various data initiatives and to build business cases for new initiatives
  • Work collaboratively to drive adoption and enforcement of data modeling design principles, best practices, guidelines and policies
  • Build strong relationships and drive alignment on difficult topics. Effectively work across team boundaries to implement data architecture and data management best practices

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and minimum 7 years prior relevant experience, including 3 years of management experience gained as a team leader, supervisor or project/program manager
  • Requires an understanding of basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution, work organization, risk management and delegation
  • Strong understanding of data management practices, data modelling (Kimball, Inman & Data Vault 2.0), master data management, data integration, data architecture, data virtualization, data warehousing, data privacy and security is required
  • Strong background with SQL, data modelling techniques and ETL data pipeline development is required
  • Experience in designing solutions for large data warehouses with a good understanding of cluster and parallel architecture. Expert in one or more of NoSQL and database appliances and platforms (Snowflake, Synapse, Databricks)
  • Excellent Communication skills for engaging with stakeholders, facilitating discussions, and conveying complex technical concepts
  • Azure Architect or Snowflake certification is desired
  • Prior experience in data product management is highly desirable. This includes skills with creating roadmaps, converting business requirements to technical stories, feature prioritization and working collaboratively across cross-functional teams
  • Experience is Cloud tech stack (Azure, GCP or AWS), Snowflake, DBT Cloud, Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) and other related cloud technologies
  • Experience with agile iterative development life cycle methodologies and application of those principles, especially agile development practices

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 118800.00 to $ 178200.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
