Your next role as a Miracle Maker

Maravai LifeSciences is seeking a #MiracleMaker to join our Finance & Accounting team as a Manager, Accounting. As a Manager, Accounting you will support the timely financial close and accurate reporting of the financial results of all entities in compliance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States (GAAP) and the Company's Accounting Policies and Procedures. The Manager, Accounting is a seasoned professional with in-depth knowledge of both the details of financial statements and the "big picture". Primary areas of focus on the balance sheet include cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued expenses, leases, debt, royalty accounting, foreign currency, and a heavy emphasis on intercompany management and consolidations. The Manager, Accounting will work closely with a variety of team members in Accounting, Finance, SEC /Financial Reporting, Tax, IT and the management team at Maravai.

How you will make an impact:

  • Leads and manages the global general ledger team against the overall corporate close and reporting calendar
  • Leads, reviews, trains and mentors team responsible for G/L balance sheet account reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, other current assets, fixed assets, accrued expenses, leases, debt, foreign currency, and intercompany balances
  • Domain and accountability for all aspects of royalty accounting, including but not limited to: calculation of royalties incurred in relation to sales of licensed products or services and maintenance and reconciliation of accrued royalty liabilities
  • Manages accrued expenses by leveraging open purchase order reports, estimates of unbilled fees for non-PO vendors, vendor trend analysis, and budget vs. actual analysis
  • Administers intercompany and inter-entity eliminations to ensure proper allocation and elimination of all intercompany transactions as part of the consolidation process
  • Manages and prepares monthly consolidations; collaborates with other team members in accounting with an in-depth knowledge of legal roll-up structures
  • Administers monthly reporting of net income to adjusted EBITDA walks, balance sheet, P&L analytical assessment and flux analyses
  • Prepares quarterly SAB99 analysis and memo for review by the Controller
  • Prepares quarterly debt compliance hypothetical calculations in the context of SAB99 adjustments
  • Active participant in regular recurring IT meetings, advocating for appropriate maintenance and enhancement of NetSuite as it relates to and impacts accounting responsibilities
  • Manages day-to-day accounting of transactions, policies, controls, and procedures
  • Ensures accurate and complete financial records and reporting, in compliance with legal requirements and US GAAP standards
  • Supports periodic financial audits and relationships with external auditors
  • Ensures that the requests by the internal/external auditors for the annual audit and quarter reviews are accurately and timely prepared in support of public company requirements
  • Assists in the maintenance of the Accounting Policies and Procedures and delegates duties as appropriate
  • Identifies, leads, and/or supports reporting improvements to systems, processes, and internal controls
  • Other projects and tasks, as assigned

The skills and experience that you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 8 total years of relevant professional experience
  • 3 year of managing accounting teams
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, reporting and compliance
  • Proficiency in consolidated financial statements with intercompany transactions
  • Proficiency with managing balances denominated in foreign currencies
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent writing/documentation skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to operate with substantial latitude in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Public accounting experience
  • Prior experience operating in a robust control environment
  • Biotech industry experience
  • Prior experience at a global/international company
  • Proficiency using NetSuite with multiple consolidating entities
  • CPA license

The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $144,000. In addition, highly competitive long-term incentives in the form of company equity, bonus participation and company sponsored benefits are provided as part of the total compensation package. The salary offer will depend on multiple factors which may include the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications, as well as the location of the role.
