Ameresco currently has a new opportunity for a Project Engineer-Commissioning to join Ameresco's Commissioning Team in the commissioning of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) as well as traditional energy conservation measures including building energy management system upgrades, HVAC modifications, and capital equipment replacements. The primary focus of the position will be to support the growing portfolio of solar PV projects being constructed and commissioned by Ameresco throughout the continental US.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical commissioning support throughout the design, construction, and initial operation of PV and BESS and mechanical and electrical systems at new and existing buildings and sites.
  • Review designs of mechanical/ electrical plans and specifications for each system or unit.
  • Create pre-functional, inspection and functional performance test procedures;
  • Assist Project Managers in implementing construction phase commissioning tasks;
  • Perform field inspections, witness equipment startups/testing, test and balance activities, as well as performance testing;
  • Create and complete functional performance tests and oversee process with contractors.
  • Provide field reports and update Master List of Findings reports;
  • Conduct electrical measurements using a multi meter and run IV curve tracing equipment.
  • Ensure building controls and energy management systems are operating as intended with proper setpoints and schedules;
  • Participate in project meetings to review status of commissioning;
  • Prepare commissioning reports to communicate overall results; and
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSin Engineering.
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience working in the field of HVAC design, construction or commissioning, solar design or construction, building controls deign or construction, or building/plant operations.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with managing and executing commissioning of HVAC and control systems for new or existing building retrofits.
  • Solar design or construction of commercial and utility scale projects.
  • Experience in the design, construction and/or commissioning of BESSs.
  • Professional Commissioning Certification helpful.
  • OSHA 10 or better and familiarity with NFPA 70e and National Electrical Code
  • Working understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and controls, HVAC system troubleshooting, with exposure to construction and facility operations. Understanding of the operation of chiller and boiler plants, motors, VSDs, HVAC design/ retrofit, building automation, energy conservation.
  • MS Office proficiency required with Excel and Word.
  • Strong verbal, written, computer communication and technical presentation skills.
  • Duties will require physical activity, including accessing roofs, climbing ladders, and lifting and carrying up to 60lbs of equipment.
  • Valid Drivers' License in good standing, issued by resident state required.
  • Travel required, balance of roughly 50% office - 50 % field.
