About the Opportunity

This role is responsible for the set-up of fixtures, tooling, and operations for Swiss-Screw machines. Operates all aspects of production and prototyping jobs while supporting a production-paced environment.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • Sets up, troubleshoots and produces complex parts on Swiss Screw Machines used in production.
  • Manages the set-up of Swiss screw machines and inspection equipment for production jobs.
  • Creates, maintains, and updates set up procedures for all critical processes.
  • Operates all equipment in the Swiss Screw shop to support daily production needs.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints to maintain dimensions within tolerances of precision-machined parts.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves machine operation issues.
  • Provides training to other machine operators.
  • Works with the Engineering department to create work instructions for developmental jobs.
  • Maintains machine-specific tools and consumables to ensure the effective operation of equipment.
  • Coordinates tasks and projects with other departments as needed.
  • Continually improves process operations to optimize process yields.
  • Ensures high quality of parts by closely monitoring and adjusting operation of the machine and/or tooling while regularly inspecting parts for conformance to requirements.
  • Quickly detects and corrects minor malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
  • Performs secondary bench operations as required, including inspection, deburring, and cleaning of parts.
  • Quickly raises any machining or quality issues with appropriate supervision or engineering support.
  • Accurately records daily production and provides detailed handover.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What does it take to be successful?

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-5 years of experience in the set-up and operation of Swiss screw machines required, Star machine experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings including advanced
    Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) applications required.
  • At least 2 years of experience with the metal manufacturing processes, specifically CNC milling and turning of Titanium, Stainless Steel is required.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communication technical instructions to the engineering department.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of various tools and equipment including but not limited to CNC lathe, Optical CMM, dial indicators, micrometers, and other associated tools and equipment.
  • Ability to learn technical concepts by reading work instructions and standard operating procedures, and completing on-the-job training.
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations ISO 13485, 21CFR Part 820, CMDR SOR/98-282, 93/42/EEC, RDC 16 2013, MHLW MO 169 and TG(MD)R Sch3 preferred.
