Distinguished Software Engineer position on the PTC Developer Tools Ada products development team. These products include the ApexAda and ObjectAda families of native and embedded compiler products for the Ada programming language. ApexAda products are hosted on Unix operating systems (such as Solaris) and Linux. ObjectAda products are hosted on Windows and Linux. Both product lines are developed in C/C++ and Ada. ApexAda embedded compiler products support the Linux, VxWorks, LynxOS, and ApexAda RExec real-time operating systems on Intel, PowerPC, and Arm processors.

As a member of the Ada product development team, responsibilities of this Software Development Engineer position would include:

  • Implementation of product enhancements (compilers, native and embedded runtime libraries)
  • Diagnosis of Ada compiler issues received from customers.
  • Implementation of maintenance updates for existing releases
  • Performing regular product builds
  • Product release testing, release engineering, release management
  • Maintenance of development system infrastructure (some hardware and software maintenance)
  • Assist with providing Customer Technical Support services for PTC Developer Tools products.
  • Assist sales team with pre-sales support calls, product marketing (product release announcements, support trade shows) for the PTC Developer Tools products.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Education requirement: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Minimum Prior Experience requirement: 5+ years professional software development

Preferred areas of prior experience:

To be considered for this Software Development Engineer position, candidates should have experience and technical knowledge in several of the following preferred technical areas:

  • Programming experience using C (required) and C++ (preferred)
  • Familiarity with the Ada language and Ada compilation issues
  • Prior usage experience with ApexAda or Rational Apex, or ObjectAda
  • Experience with programming in Ada, use of other Ada compiler products
  • Knowledge of compilers and their architecture
  • Embedded system programming experience (VxWorks, or LynxOS, or RExec)
  • Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX (Unix) system administration and usage experience
  • Experience with X11/Motif GUI implementation and usage
  • Perl scripting experience

PTC carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, which include a candidate's background and experience, in determining salary for a position. Compensation will vary based on these factors, but PTC anticipates the salary range for this position to be between$140,000 - $155,000. The actual pay may be lower or higher depending on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and location and may also include the opportunity to earn a discretionary bonus. Additionally, every PTC employee has the opportunity to become a PTC shareholder through our employee share purchase program which allows employees to purchase discounted PTC stock and, for eligible roles, an equity grant.
