The Hospitality Management Program Chair will lead the implementation and oversight of the new Hospitality Management Program in collaboration with the Culinary Arts Program Chair and under the Supervision of the Associate VP of Adult, Continuing, and Workforce Education. Overall, the role of the Hospitality Management Program Chair will require a both academic and industry knowledge to effectively manage both people and resources while maintaining the academic integrity to prepare our students to shape the future of the Hospitality Industry.

Specific Position Duties

Implementation of the Hospitality Management AAS Program and coordination of day-to-day operations of the department.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field.
Demonstrates willingness and ability to teach various courses, times, locations, and delivery methods, as needed and as reasonably requested by the college including Dual Credit classes.
Utilizes appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners.
Provides students with written expectations, e.g., syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, graded evaluations, etc.
Administers assessments which are appropriate to course content, including a comprehensive final exam measuring overall grasp of course objectives.
By various ways and means of instructing students, affirms the worth and dignity of all persons and the right of all persons to learn.
Maintains an appropriate learning and assessment climate in the classroom, whether traditional, web, or distance, which encourages the free exchange of ideas while defending academic honesty and objectivity.
Prepares adequately for class and arrives promptly at class meetings, labs, and any other scheduled instructional activities.
Delivers material in a clear and understandable manner.
Addresses student concerns, i.e., comments, questions, and input, both in class and via posted office hours, timely electronic communication, and other suitable means
Effectively handles routine procedures necessary for the successful, day-to-day operation of the department as delegated by the AVP and/VPI.
Submits required reports and schedules in a timely manner.
Maintains effective relationships with professional counterparts throughout the college and the community.
Maintains individual student advisement on degree plans and degree applications in order to comply with completion requirements.
Assists with recruiting, marketing, and outreach for department.
Actively participates in college functions and events, and engages in community service.
Responsible for the schedule build for the discipline.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with instructional practices.
Responsible for managing, budgeting, and ordering instructional supplies.
Maintain and schedule department meetings and recording minutes to submit to the AVP.
Conduct class observations for all HM faculty.
Hiring adjuncts and overseeing adjunct support plan.
Signature authority for forms (leave, incompletes, student schedule changes, etc.).
Overseeing curricular development.
Attend meetings as scheduled.
Addressing student complaints.
Attend completion ceremonies, such college graduation.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Any Associate Degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience in the discipline or technical training or certification,
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Knowledge in the use of multi-media technology and computers.
Commitment to OC’s mission statement and overall vision. 
The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Demonstrate organizational and time management skills.
Demonstrate a firm grasp of computer-aided design software

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience.
