General Summary

The Adult Education and Literacy Program serves the surrounding communities by providing adult basic education and language acquisition courses at Odessa College. The students served come from diverse backgrounds with various educational experiences and abilities. We are currently seeking a Career Navigator that has a passion for helping students navigate through goal setting within academics The ideal candidate will have a passion and familiarity of adult literacy, higher education as well as workforce employment services.

Specific Position Duties

- Assist students and Adult Basic Education staff with the registration process
- Advise students through Individual Training Education and Career pathways
- Provide career and behavior student assessments
- Assist with evaluations and assessments of students’ progress
- Assist with instructors to create a supportive and encouraging education experience
- Maintain and submit records of student meetings to the program’s data clerk
- Lead and train staff and other faculty members during professional development sessions with a goal of utilizing career assessment tools
- Collaborate with educational staff to provide a positive learning experience for all students
- Create and implement Integrated Education and Training Programs
- Lead students in creation and implementation of focused career and/or academic plans
- Take part in registration, orientation, and graduation when needed
- Other duties as assigned



Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- Organization and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.


Preferred Qualifications

- Master’s degree in relevant field.
- Two or more years of experience working in higher education, with students of diverse backgrounds or two or more years of experience working with workforce solutions or boards, with client of diverse backgrounds
- Experience working in Adult Basic Education or English Second Language
- Knowledge of Higher Education and Career Navigation Software or programs
- High level of Spanish speaking proficiency
