Job Description Summary:
Southwestern Michigan College, a two-year college located approximately 30 minutes north of South Bend, Indiana and approximately 30 minutes from Lake Michigan's eastern shore, is seeking an Adjunct Instructor in Communications teaching the courses in the Potawatomi language.

Instructor must available to teach during the morning and afternoon hours.

A successful candidate for this position will also:

• Be able to work comfortably with a diverse student population, including dual-enrolled high school students, traditional college students, and nontraditional college students.
• Utilize a variety of student engagement strategies in the classroom to ensure active student participation.
• Be willing to learn Moodle, an online learning management system, and use it regularly for all classes. Moodle is used for posting assignments, attendance, grades, etc.
• Be proficient using other computer technologies, including Microsoft Office and email.
• Bring a positive, energetic attitude into the classroom.

 

Required Qualifications:
Masters degree with 18 credit hours in subject area OR minimum qualifications and training for subject area including experience teaching the Potawatomi language.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
MA in Communications, plus prior experience teaching community college students.
