ABOUT
 THE POSITION
 

The grant management specialist is expected to lead Normandale’s post-award grant management activities, which includes an array of services provided after a sponsor makes an award. This position ensures that grant-funded projects maintain compliance with federal and state rules and regulations as well as Minnesota State Colleges and Universities and Normandale policies and procedures. The grant management specialist is the key point of contact for project directors (PDs) and principal investigators (PIs) regarding all aspects of grant management, providing technical assistance and training to ensure that grant-funded projects are implemented as proposed or that proper channels are followed to modify projects as needed.
This position will actively advance the college’s strategic goals, by supporting efforts to achieve equity in educational outcomes and to support a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts.

Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
These qualifications are required to move forward; as such, ensure your application contains descriptions of your education and work experience sufficient to demonstrate competency in each of the following):
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two (2) years of successful grant management or similar program management experience.
  • An additional one (1) year of grant management experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree for individuals with an associate degree who meet all other requirements.
  • Experience working in a higher education or non-profit setting.

 

 
Other KSAs to be interviewed for:
  • The ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals in a diverse higher education community.
  • Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with MS Office products and specialized databases.
  • Knowledge of higher education and/or government funding programs.

 

Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, federal and state compliance regulations, and funding agency requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in grant or data reporting processes.
  • Project management skills sufficient to manage multiple projects simultaneously, create clear and attainable project objectives, build project requirements, oversee the cost, time and scope of projects, manage project constraints, and communicate progress and end results.
  • Knowledge of research and evaluation methodologies to determine program effectiveness.
  • Proven strong facilitation skills.
