Job Description

 

Responsible for the overall success of the admissions department. Responsible for student recruitment initiatives and ensuring appropriateness, continuity and evaluation of services, compliance, establishment of policy and procedures, inspection and evaluation of documents, programming, delivery of services and immigration advising. Provides leadership and expertise relative to issues including culture, language, acclimation, sociocultural
adjustment, immigration legislation, global trends as well as establishes institutional and community networks to benefit immigrant and non-immigrant student populations. Serves as Designated School Official (DSO) for the F-1 student program and must comply with all U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Department of State regulations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure new student start goals are met.
  • Ensure admissions policies and procedures are followed.
  • On and off campus recruiting responsibilities to include but not limited to; representing GCCC at college planning conferences, high school visits, and other recruiting activities across Kansas, Oklahoma, and Colorado.
  • Develops strategic, data-driven new student admissions recruitment, marketing, and enrollment strategies and goals with the Dean of Student Services.
  • Presents and analyzes data regarding new student admissions to assess status toward goals, areas of concern, and relevant trends, and use of that data to direct recruitment initiatives mid-cycle and for future planning.
  • Serves as a campus resource for recruitment, admissions, orientation, and enrollment, establishing relationships with key partners in all areas.
  • Leads the Admissions staff including hiring, training, coaching, and providing professional developmental opportunities.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and College regulations concerning student admissions.
  • Assesses and assists in developing needed technologies to increase service to students and efficiencies in processes.
  • Provides effective budget management and oversees fiscal operations.
  • Builds effective relationships with high schools and community-based organizations.
  • Assist in the development of all recruitment materials.
  • Maintain written and oral communication with prospective students.
  • Data Entry, enter applications, transcript evaluations and other pertinent student information into Datatel.
  • Review and determine eligibility of prospective students; grant admission and issue immigration documents necessary to maintain the F-1 student Visa.
  • Manage F-1 eligibility and SEVIS compliance, monitor SEVIS compliance, provide advice, counsel and training as necessary.
  • Document and maintain international student records.
  • Monitor academic progress of international students and maintain SEVIS system.

Performance Measurements:

  • To develop, organize and implement successful recruitment activities for traditional and non traditional students.
  • To manage the Admissions Office and assure accurate and timely input of student data.
  • To train personnel campus-wide in recruitment techniques and support all recruiting activities.

 


Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education: A Bachelor's degree.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of USCIS regulations for immigrant and non-immigrant populations with working knowledge of policies and procedures regarding visa issuance, SEVIS regulations and reporting, Dept. of Homeland Security regulations and Customs and Immigration Enforcement regulations regarding foreign students in the United States. Exceptional written and oral communications and interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to work effectively with federal agencies, faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds and cultural traditions. Ability to treat all members of the college community with dignity and respect demonstrating exclusivity and civility, and engage in constructive conflict resolution. Ability to work effectively under pressure with attention to detail.
