Broadband Director, Workforce Development Center (WDC)
Located at the Evendale campus, the Workforce Development Center serves local businesses and individual students in developing industry-relevant skills for today's changing workplace. As a separate profit center, the WDC supports the college mission by offering custom, fast-paced programs that help people gain skills quickly and set them up for future professional and academic success. While the WDC is located in Evendale, programs may be delivered at employer sites as well as other College campus locations.

In keeping with the College's mission to provide relevant workforce training, Cincinnati State anticipates continued participation in Broadband/5G Workforce grant designed to enhance the quality of the broadband workforce in the region through September, 2029.

The Director position is a grant-funded, full-time position reporting to the Sr. Director of Workforce Development Center. The program is part of a state-wide investment in collaboration with Miami University, the Workforce Investment Boards, the Community Action Agency, and other regional partners.

This position is dependent on annual, renewable full funding from the State of Ohio in partnership with Miami University.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership & Management
  • Lead the development of the annual and periodic financial reporting as well as the grant renewal process in coordination with Miami University.
  • Develop, manage and coordinate broadband/fiber optic programming including curriculum development, supervision, and budgeting/reporting
  • Identify, recruit, and manage a business advisory committee to advise on curriculum and assist in recruitment efforts.
  • Develop, manage, and coordinate relationships with Miami University, the local WIBs, the Community Action Agency, and other community partners involved in the grant.
  • Act as primary College representative of the college for the Broadband program
  • Direct the production and promotion of the program through marketing messages through social media channels and other appropriate means.
  • Manage the coordination of the day-to-day operations as it pertains to the Broadband/Fiber program at Cincinnati State.
  • Provide relevant, accurate, and timely information related to schedules, events, and administrative matters.
  • Manage Broadband/Fiber labs including the equipment purchases and lab set up for new program areas
  • Act as the resident expert in Broadband/Fiber Optic training as it relates to the operations, technology, and curriculum delivery of the program
  • Manage prospective students, set and monitor enrollment goals
  • Provide oversight and accountability for tracking budget expenditures and staying within budget.
  • Select local and regional networking events. Coordinate representation, tabling, and exposition opportunities.
  • Collaborate with community partners to create awareness of the program opportunities.
  • Manage multiple priorities and use discretion in interaction with all individuals internally and externally.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
General Supervision & Management
  • Hire, evaluate, and support of instructors for the Broadband/Fiber Optic program(s).
  • Provide direct supervision of instructors and coordinators.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of two years of project management experience
  • Minimum of two years broadband/fiber optic experience
  • Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Driver's license and ability to travel to various locations within the State of Ohio (mileage reimbursed at I.R.S. approved rate)
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as business needs dictate
  • Ability to lift/move packages (up to 25 lbs.) on an intermittent basis
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a community outreach role
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification
  • Experience in event management.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems

  • Ability to work under fast-paced and changing conditions
 
Details:
Reports To: Sr. Director, Workforce Development Center
Contract Affiliation: Non-Bargaining
Classification: Full – Time Exempt
Compensation: $78,000/yr.

Retirement:
