Position Summary

The Director of Alabama EMS Region One Office is responsible for supervision, coordination and management of the Alabama EMS Region One office. Provide oversight to the daily actions and responsibilities of the Alabama EMS Region One office.

Salary: Appropriate placement on the ACCS Salary Schedule C3, Grade I: $69,564 - $101,034

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Manage and coordinate the work of the Alabama EMS Region One office ensuring communication, efficient administration and consistent application of policies, procedures and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of goals, objectives, and programs that encourage enrollment growth, student retention, and high quality instruction.
  • Prepare, monitor, and administer budgets for the Alabama EMS Region One office.
  • Work closely with other areas of the College to provide consistency of services across the College's campuses and sites.
  • Maintain or increase competency by seeking new knowledge, improving skills, and updating professional competencies.
  • Develop, supervise, and mentor personnel with special attention to the needs of the department to stay abreast of changing technologies and best practices.
  • Establish office routines and procedures to be used in maintenance of College records.
  • Assign duties and supervise instructional personnel.
  • Promote positive and productive relationships with service areas.
  • Actively represent the College in the community.
  • Perform all duties with professionalism.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Dean of Health Sciences.

 

Qualifications

 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and a minimum of ten (10) years related work experience is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years pre-hospital care experience as a Paramedic is required.
  • Certification as a Paramedic licensed in the State of Alabama or subject to a reciprocity agreement with the State of Alabama is required.
  • Successful completion of an approved DOT EMS Instructor/ NAEMSE Instructor course is required.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Up to 10 days a year of professional development leave with pay may be granted by the President.

Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. All regular full-time and part-time employees (non-temporary and non- student) who work at least 20 hours per week are required to participate in The Teachers' Retirement System of Alabama.
Tier I - Pays 7.50% monthly. State matches 12.59% (effective 10/01/22)

Health Insurance
PEEHIP, established in 1983, provides health insurance benefits for active and retired education employees and is governed by the PEEHIP Board of Control. The wellness premium applies only to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Hospital Medical Group #14000 plan for non-Medicare eligible active and retired members, non-Medicare-eligible members on LOA or COBRA, and non-Medicare-eligible spouses on active or retired contracts. If desired, the employee may elect four options rather than health insurance options to include hospital indemnity, cancer, dental, and vision.

Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.

Employees/Dependents at two-year colleges:
  • 1/3 waived after 1st year
  • 2/3 waived after 2nd year
  • 3/3 waived after 3rd year
