Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Project Management (ADPM) and in collaboration with the technical Principal Investigators, the Project Manager is responsible for supporting the research and business services activities in the management of research projects at the Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence & Security (ARLIS), a Department of Defense (DoD) University-Affiliated Research Center Laboratories (UARC).

The role of the Project Manager, is to provide administrative support to the Director of Research, Mission Area Coordinators (MACs), and Principal Investigators (PIs) for sponsored research. As a Project Manager, you will work with the researchers to plan and direct all administrative activities regarding research projects. Your goal is to help the researcher spend resources wisely, keep track of progress, follow university and federal rules and regulations, and remove administrative burden from the PIs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Accounting, Project Management or another related field.

Experience:
2-4 years experience managing cross-functional projects preferably with budgets over $1MM and/or at an institution of higher education. Education and/or professional certifications can be considered in place of some experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Hands-on experience managing multiple projects with a clear understanding and demonstrated application of project management methodologies (processes, best practices, tools).
  • Working knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and review work products for completeness, quality, and adherence to customer requirements.
  • Excellent skills in creating and maintaining spreadsheets in MS Excel in addition to good general computer skills with experience with word processing and web search applications.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong Finance and Accounting skills.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity.

Applicants must be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance. If selected, you must meet the requirements for access to classified information and will be subject to a government security clearance investigation.

Preferences:

  • Detailed knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Experience Microsoft Project.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance.
