Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a central role in the collaborative environment of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), working with a diverse group of scientists and faculty across Harvard. Charged with providing statistical acumen to various clinical research efforts within the Division of Population Sciences at DFCI, they will join our multidisciplinary team as a research scientist and biostatistician within the Statistical Programming Core. Responsibilities include contributing to projects led by faculty in the Cancer Genetics and Prevention Group (CGP) and the Outcomes and Policy Research Group (COPR), providing comprehensive statistical support from study proposal and protocol development through data analysis and reporting. In addition, they will engage in independent research aimed at developing and disseminating novel statistical methods tailored to the unique challenges of cancer clinical research. They will also take a leadership role in recruiting and mentoring a cadre of junior biostatisticians, fostering an environment of growth and innovation within the team.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline.
- At least three years of relevant experience in cancer clinical research collaboration or related healthcare sectors.
- Advanced proficiency in computational skills and statistical software, including but not limited to Unix/Linux, high-performance computing (HPC), version control with Git, R, and SAS.
- In-depth knowledge of clinical trial methodologies and epidemiological study design.
- Outstanding communication abilities, fostering effective collaboration in team settings.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Prior experience with genomic data management is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with conducting large-scale computational simulations will be considered an asset.
- A robust track record of scholarly publications will be favorably regarded.
