Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Institute Assistant will provide operational, logistical, and administrative support, as necessary, in the development and production of programming relating to the Institute for Robust Quantum Simulation. The Institute Assistant will report to the Director of Operations. Ideal candidates are graduate or undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • This position is only open to students currently enrolled in a Graduate program at the University of Maryland, College Park who possess a valid UMD ID and access to UMD applications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), GSuite (Gmail, Drive, Meet, Calendar, Doc, Sheets, Slides, Forms), and basic marketing software (Publisher, Canva, AdobeAcrobat).

This position requires the ability to spend ½ week to 1 ½ weeks out of Maryland for out-of-town events.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, take initiative, exercise good judgment, and maintain a positive attitude.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written skills.
  • Ability to interact with stakeholders of varied opinions on events and event goals.
  • Fast learner with an openness to tackle a variety of tasks.
  • Previous administrative experience and proficiency with project management or event planning are preferred.
  • STEM background is preferred but not required.

Additional Certifications:

Required:
Must possess a Driver’s License valid in the State of Maryland with fewer than six (6) points and have the ability to travel to event venues.
