Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

As part of the Field Programs Section, the Regional Coordinators will be responsible for oversight of the daily operations of a Regional Office/Training Center and the coordination of emergency services training programs in the counties assigned to the region.

The Regional Coordinators must possess a working knowledge of the emergency services and training coordination. The Regional Coordinator is a resource not only to the Institute but also to the jurisdictions served and should be a positive example of professionalism.

The Regional Coordinators are responsible for the supervision of full and part-time staff assigned to their respective regional offices and training centers, as well as, a cadre of part-time field instructors. This includes performance feedback and support to ensure that all employees achieve a high level of performance and productivity while supporting the mission, goals and policies of the Institute and the State Programs Section.

The Regional Coordinators must interact frequently with a number of EMS, fire and rescue organizations within the assigned region. The Regional Coordinator serves as a liaison between the Institute, the local jurisdictions, and training academies. This requires that they possess effective oral and written communication skills. The Regional Coordinator must remain fair and impartial to all parties.

The Regional Coordinators will supervise one (1) Non-exempt employee (Business Services Specialist); One (1) hourly Technician position (which may be shared by two or more employees); One (1) hourly Regional Office Assistant position if the region so requires; and all part-time instructors assigned to the Region.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:
Minimum of five years’ experience in fire/emergency services.

  • Master’s Degree
  • Previous experience in the development, coordination, delivery and management of fire and emergency services training.

Additional Certifications:

Required:
Certification, or ability to become certified as a Level II State Emergency Services Instructor within 18 months of appointment.
