Every student can achieve academic success, yet the public education system was not designed to meet students of color where they are, instead they marginalized and underestimated their abilities. TAF partners with school districts, educators, and organizations to challenge the current public education system. We address the entire public education system, from top-to-bottom, providing STEM skills and equitable, anti-racist education environments where all students can succeed and by working with emerging and established education leaders of color to improve representation at every level. We:

  • Co-manage two public STEM schools where we provide industry-relevant, equitable curriculum and experiences
  • Partner with existing schools and coach staff and students to use our successful STEMbyTAF learning model
  • Empower early-career educators and establish school leaders of color through educational equity and liberation pedagogy

The Human Resource Manager reports to the Executive Director of Operations and is part of the Operations team. Human Resources Manager plays a pivotal role in employee relations. The Human Resources Manager works throughout their entire time with the organization, recruiting new hires, onboarding new employees, and exit interviews. The Human Resources Manager is responsible for researching and implementing new HR policies & procedures compliant with WA & Federal laws, employee benefits, compensation, and provide support for any HR disputes and legal situations.

 

TAF is looking for a dynamic people person who can play a crucial role in fostering a productive work atmosphere and driving sustainable transformation within our organization.

 

The Human Resource Manager is responsible for resolving complex human resource issues. Plans and carries out work independently and with minimum supervision, utilizing knowledge of laws, policies, and regulations. Responsible for prioritizing and managing issues within a designated area of responsibility. Always maintain and ensure a confidential environment.

Recruitment/Onboarding

  • Partners with the Executive Team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs
  • Manage the staffing process, which includes, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and exiting of staff through Rippling's IATS system
  • Schedule interviews of solid candidates that include hiring manager + team members
  • Create 5 standard interview questions for all positions
  • Process reference check within 48 hours of hiring manager informing you they want to make an offer
  • Create a rotating orientation schedule
  • Lead orientation for all new staff; ensuring it reflects HR WA and Federal mandated laws
  • Provide scheduling support for Executive Director of Operations

 

Policy/Procedures

  • Develop, recommend, and implement approved policies, procedures, handbook
  • Review and update policies and procedures on the IAT’s system annually
  • Maintain compliance of HR personnel file system with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, and best practices
  • Ensure policies and procedures align with TAF culture
  • Keep Salary Matrix updated based non-profit trends
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits
  • Oversee the annual employee review process
  • Other Duties as Assigned

 

Culture/Retention

  • Provide reasonable accommodations, research expertise and guidance to Executive Director of Operations, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise
  • Collaborate with Operations Team and contractor(s) to oversee, and implement annual climate survey process
  • Research and recommend compensation and benefits packages to ensure TAF remains competitive
  • Research retention trends and share to Operations team
  • Manage Linked In Learning Processional Development Process
  • Lead HR-related all staff trainings
  • Participate in developing and implementing organizational culture strategic planning
  • Lead HR-related staff trainings
  • Participate in developing and implementing organizational culture strategic plan

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with talent acquisition systems
  • Comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal employment laws
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication, verbal and non-verbal and relationship-building skills
  • Uses effective Business Writing Skills creating policy, interpersonal, written, and oral communication with internal staff, teams, and community served; demonstrates empathy and listening
  • Demonstrated ability to improve employee morale
  • Detailed-oriented; organizational and time-management for self and stakeholders
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in an environment with limited supervision; independent problem-solving skills, and the ability to coordinate several projects at one time

Preferred/Desired Education, Experience, and Competencies:

  • Postsecondary degree or professional certification in Human Resources Required
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in a Human Resource leadership role
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired
  • Experience working with Non-Profits Experience working with Diverse Populations
  • Moderate to high proficiency in Microsoft Suite and digital content tools
  • Fluency in languages other than English is a plus
