General Statement of Responsibilities

The Skills Training and Experiential Learning faculty member will assist in the planning, coordination, integration, and execution of work-based learning (WBL) experiences between local k-12 school districts, Rogue Community College (RCC) and industry/business partners. The development of WBL includes Cooperative Work Experience (CWE), Employability Skills Training (EST), and Occupational Skills Training (OST) elements.

Supervision Received
The Dean of Workforce Development is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of faculty. The Dean is responsible for decisions regarding instructor workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing levels.

 

Examples of Duties - Essential Functions
  • Determine training, educational, and support needs of students entering skills training programs.
  • Develop training sites and coordinate placement of students at training sites. Assist CTE faculty with preparing students for workforce readiness and placement, as well as assist employers with WBL/CWE program development.
  • Develop, integrate, and coordinate training curriculum with employers, students, and departments as appropriate. Assist CTE faculty with integration of WBL, EST, and OST into program curricula.
  • Monitor progress of students and provide follow-up services to both students and employers to assure successful completion of students' training curriculum. Provides support for evaluation of students as they perform in OST, EST, and WBL/CWE (as needed).
  • Maintain employer lists in each county, ensuring records are updated as necessary. Maintain data spreadsheets, participation records and WBL/CWE participation records.
  • Represent RCC skill training programs to students, partner agencies, and employers.
  • Conduct research on current career readiness standards, best practices, and strategies to engage and prepare students and special populations students for meaningful CTE, WBL/CWE and OST experiences, and ensure compliance with state, federal and Carl Perkins grant regulations.
  • Participates in assessment of student learning at the course, program, and institutional levels.
  • Participates as a team member in department meetings, planning activities, and departmental recruitment and outreach efforts.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development and networking opportunities related to CTE education / expertise.
  • Represents the CTE programs and the College to the community, businesses, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner.
  • Actively contributes to a culture of respect and inclusivity by collaborating effectively with students, colleagues, and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Participates in the full range of professional and college-related activities, including student advising, programmatic assessment (including regular and systemic curriculum and program assessment to be used for continuous program and curricular improvement), ongoing professional development, departmental and college-wide meetings, committee activity, and community involvement.
  • Performs other CTE duties as assigned.

Specific Functions

The FT Faculty – Skills Training and Experiential Learning will:
  • Collaborate with local secondary educational institutions and industry partners to integrate WBL into stackable certificates for CTE pathways.
  • Work directly with CTE instructors, business/industry partners, CTE staff and community organizations that provide support for adult learners and special populations.
  • Provide support to students and business/ industry partners to provide CTE career pathways and relevant opportunities to provide targeted WBL/CWE experiences which are embedded and aligned with CTE pathway courses.
  • Interact with a diverse population and special population of students and a wide range of college staff in a variety of ways to provide efficient and courteous support.
  • Provide assistance for student transition to Rogue Community College.
  • Assist student entry into college CTE programs.

 

Screening Criteria

EducationA master’s degree or higher in, Education, Adult Education or CTE Education is required; or any equivalent combination of CTE education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.

Experience: A minimum of two years of secondary or postsecondary instructional experience in a CTE discipline or two years of educational administrative experience is required, AND a minimum of two years business/industry experience is required.

Knowledge of: College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures.

Ability to: Communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues and students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds; work collaboratively as a member of an academic department; demonstrate enthusiasm for the subject areas; participate in curriculum and program development; participate in the student advising program and college-wide efforts to improve student retention and success; demonstrate experience or potential for innovation and creativity in both the classroom and related educational duties, including the use of new technologies; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth.

Licenses: For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License and proof of an acceptable driving record are required. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver’s license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).

Manual dexterity and coordination are required for about half of the day (50%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires some mobility including the ability to move materials less than 5 pounds daily, 5-25 pounds occasionally, and 25-60 pounds rarely. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate.

 

Additional Posting Information

This is a Full-Time Faculty position (100%, 10 months/year) in the Workforce Development Department. Starting compensation will be in accordance with initial step placement per the current Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement (Download PDF reader) and the 2023-24 Full-Time Faculty salary schedule. (Download PDF reader) Consideration will be given to experience and educational achievement.

Position is grant/contract status through 6/30/2024, renewed annually, with continuation dependent upon funding. Grant funding is expected to continue through 6/30/25. Grant/contract status positions do not accrue seniority.
