Has a passion for and/or experience with college-level teaching or adult training and strives for teaching excellence

• . Can share expertise in subjects like Artificial Intelligence, Expert Systems, Object-Oriented Programming, Cybersecurity, and Software Development with students who have no background in these topics
• . Applies instructional expertise and an understanding of Culturally Responsive Education theory to make Computer Science topics approachable and relatable to first- and second-year college students, including students who have no prior experience in Computer Science
• . Responds to cultural shifts and changing community support needs to help improve our Computer Science program through curriculum development and pedagogical innovation. Open to working with teaching technologies and learning management systems
• . Is willing to support and mentor part-time faculty in the department
• . Is able to teach in-person classes, and online classes

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is preferred

Initial Salary Placement will be between Step 1 ($64,562) and Step 3 ($68,491) based on related experience, per PCC's collective bargaining agreement.

PCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. Includes Health, Dental, and Vision options, Group Life, Long-term Disability, Long-term Care, and Auto and Home Insurance programs.

 

PCC currently funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. A portion of the 6% will be diverted to The Employee Pension Stability Account as mandated by Senate Bill 1049. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for courses offered at PCC for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age; plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.
