Summary

The University of Michigan School of Public Health's Department of Epidemiology uses a multidisciplinary approach to explore reducing and preventing disease in human populations with rigorous research, innovative education, and dedicated service. The Department of Epidemiology is seeking a Student Affairs Program Manager to oversee the department's student services team. 

Responsibilities*

  • Oversee daily operations of the Student Services Team. Direct supervision of student services administrative assistants. Provide training and mentorship as well as delegation of work and performance evaluations
  • Manage all student performance concerns, academic probation, academic integrity issues and student accommodation requests. Provide guidance to faculty, staff, and students on department/School/University policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Rackham requirements. Meet with Department Chair and Associate Chairs to share student feedback, faculty committee decisions, as well as concerns regarding student performance and well-being.
  • Coordinate with the Student Wellness and Inclusion Advocate to enhance the student experience by identifying student emotional/social needs. Lead support team for track leaders implementing new departmental initiatives, which are designed to support students and faculty throughout each term. Provide suggestions to Department Chair on improvements where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with Associate Chairs and faculty on course offerings, review teaching evaluations, and program requirements. Maintain and analyze data with strategic view towards future offerings and student needs.   Identify gaps in programming and implement opportunities to enhance administration of didactic planning (e.g., updating department procedures for course planning, teaching assignments, etc.)
  • Coordinate student funding applications for travel, Rackham awards, and scholarships.
  • Support departmental student events including orientation, graduation, networking and student discussions.
     

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of experience in student affairs in higher education, including program management, advising, and/or student records. Experience with event coordination. Demonstrated experience supporting diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials and situations.

Additional Information

Occasional work on evenings and weekends may be required to support student events.

This position allows for a hybrid work schedule. The selected candidate will be expected to work on-site 3 days per week.
