Job Description

Our team in Finance directly impacts Notre Dame’s mission to change the world by supporting our campus partners in achieving their goals and being stewards of their resources. As with all things at the University of Notre Dame, we are looking for the exceptional. Here, exceptional is seen in our teamwork, accountability, integrity, leadership in excellence, and leadership in mission.

What’s in it for you?

We recognize there are a lot of great organizations in the world where you can share your talents. What makes Notre Dame special? The amazing people who work here often cite the great work culture, our distinctive mission, the opportunity to build a career, and our endless list of best-in-class benefits. You’ll work for a department that encourages independent work, giving you the empowerment to make decisions that are driven by the mission of the University.

Responsibilities include performing a variety of account reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, performing transaction analysis for senior management, providing fiscal year-end audit and tax preparation support, assisting with the accounting and reporting for University related-entities and providing oversight and support to campus for the University’s portfolio of non-grant restricted funds. Specific duties include journal entry preparation and review, non-grant restricted and agency fund set-up and maintenance, deficit monitoring and follow-up, compilation of financial statements and other reports, maintenance of orderly files and workpapers which provide an audit trail, and assisting departments in understanding accounting procedures and the Banner financial system.

After an initial 3-6 month training period, this position would be eligible to participate in the University’s remote work program, which provides for up to 2 days of remote work per week.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting with a strong background in auditing coursework.
  • Must have a high comfort level with technology and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • The position requires a strong accounting background and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
