Job Description:

Tutors will need to work with students, tutors, Head tutors, supervisors, and STEM Center Staff:

  • Provide individualized content and skill-development tutoring to students (tutees).
  • Provide students with strategies to approach a problem or study STEM subjects.
  • Develop and modify your tutoring skills to meet students' needs, and adjust to the learning styles of your students.
  • Provide tutees with various strategies to help them become independent learners.
  • Attend a pre-semester mandatory training.
  • Attend weekly training meetings throughout the semester.
  • Maintain accurate and current records of each tutoring session using required software and online documentation.
  • Model appropriate behavior by maintaining a sense of professionalism while tutoring with the STEM center.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all student information, material, and discussions shared in the tutoring relationship.
  • Become knowledgeable of the STEM Center's services and procedures in order to assist students who have questions or are interested in setting up appointments.
  • Provide other services as needed such as front desk coverage and participation in STEM Center activities.


Job Requirements:

  • Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0.
  • Tutor in-person on campus.
  • Grade of B+ or higher in relevant subject area(s).
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and to lead others towards understanding in the course(s).
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other tutors, diverse learners, and supervisors.
  • Exhibit patience and a genuine desire to facilitate understanding.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Available to work a minimum of 5 hours per week.

Salary: $15.75-$16.25 per hour, Part Time Up to 18.5 hours per week
