Job Description

 

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
This is a part-time (27.5 hrs/wk) position located on the Emmetsburg Campus. Primary responsibilities are to teach non-credit and credit Allied Health classes including but not limited to: CNA, CMA, Med Manager, CPR/First Aid and assist with State certification testing. These classes will include both face to face and online class components. Some evening and weekend hours will be required. Some class preparation time may also be included. May require some travel to other campuses. The successful candidate must be highly motivated and work with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (% OF THE TIME):

Constant (67-100%)

  • Teach Allied Health courses as needed for the community and regional businesses.
  • Assist adjunct instructors as needed.
  • Utilize specialized software to teach and facilitate classes.
  • Communicate status of classes to Allied Health Industry Training Programmer.

 

Frequent (34-66%)

  • Maintain equipment log, MSDS notebook and inventory.

  • Maintain appropriate records for students, services, (state) Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA), College, and other agencies.

  • Assist with auditing CNA class files upon completion of classes.

  • Assure curriculum is current and equipment is in good shape. This includes but not limited to cleaning, sanitizing, restocking, laundering, and monitoring inventory/restocking of supplies.

  • Draft an annual class schedule.

  • Deliver training equipment and materials to training sites, as needed.

 

Occasional (10-33%)

  • Attend monthly Continuing Education Health Occupation Educator (CEHOE) meetings, as schedule allows.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with other areas of continuing education to ensure efficient coordination of similar training.
  • Participate on assigned and voluntary community, college, and state committees.
  • Assist Allied Health Industry Training Programmer with coordination of classes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Assist with duties involving DIA and deal effectively with this and other state agencies as necessary.
  • Have a working knowledge of personal computer and educational media equipment. This includes being competent with online teaching software.
  • Represent the College in a positive manner to employees, students, visitors, and the general public.
  • Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise independent judgement when making decisions.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, staff, administrators, team members and other contacts.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Demonstrate leadership and organizational skills.

 

SPECIAL DEMANDS:

Sedentary to light work. Position involves sitting or standing most of the time, in an office or classroom/laboratory setting. Reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, and viewing various types of close visual work constantly (67-100%). Stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling, and carrying frequently (10-33%). Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds of force frequently. Required to travel utilizing personal vehicle. Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.

Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current unrestricted Iowa RN license required. Either an Associate Degree in Nursing with a minimum of one and a half years (3,000 hours) experience in Nursing field or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Nurse Aid Train the Trainer required (or willingness to complete upon hire). At least one year Long Term Care experience preferred. Teaching experience preferred. CPR Instructor certification or willingness to complete is beneficial.

Salary: $25.00 per hour
