A great client and nonprofit organization in Charleston, SC is hiring an Advancement Director. The Advancement Director will be responsible for leading all fundraising and development efforts, building a robust donor base, and fostering partnerships with community leaders and organizations to expand our reach. This individual will work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to implement strategic goals and grow the organization's impact.

  • Work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy in support of the mission.
  • Produce regular monthly progress reports, assessing advancements made.
  • Broaden the organization’s fundraising by developing approaches such as planned giving, solicitation of bequests, and endowment programs.
  • Assist Executive Director with researching and writing grants for the organization.
  • Assist in new foundational support and multi-year grant opportunities.
  • Provide timely reporting and ensure compliance as required by grant award documentation.
  • Maintain grant database and calendar.
  • Create and implement strategies for donor development and cultivation.
  • Develop and execute plans to expand and enhance planned giving and major gifts program.
  • Identify and pursue new sources of corporate and foundation funding.
  • Build and maintain relationships with major donors of all types, develop strategies for solicitation, and solicit or coordinate the solicitation by other affiliate staff, board or volunteers, as appropriate.
  • Create and update collateral materials to support gift cultivation.
  • Develop and implement all aspects of direct donor mailings, appeal letters, and other donor mailings as needed.
  • Ensure that the donor database, CharityProud, information is current and accurate.
  • Acknowledgement of all gifts and donations.
  • Oversee fundraising as a relationship-oriented, talented fundraiser who exhibits drive and strong execution abilities.
  • Oversee annual fundraising campaigns, including peer-to-peer, fundraising events, annual appeal, and corporate contributions.
  • Promote events to the business community to support and provide support to those groups that want to host an event.
  • Work with appropriate staff and volunteers to ensure that all aspects of a successful event are coordinated towards a common goal.
  • Develop and solicit sponsors for events as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of success in nonprofit development, fundraising, and donor relations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in grant writing and proposal development
  • Ability to lead and manage fundraising campaigns and events
  • Experience in cultivating donor relationships and building a donor base
  • A strategic thinker with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
  • Experience in building and developing partnerships with community leaders, organizations, and businesses
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $54,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
