Job Summary
This 12-month position will teach 15 credit hours per fiscal year and supervise the Writing Centers as well as preparing for and delivering excellent instruction, providing academic advising, and contributing to the college through ongoing service.
This position will be at our Cartersville Campus
Responsibilities
- Support and carry out the college¿s mission, values, and strategic priorities in compliance with the mandates and regulations of the University System of Georgia and all associated accrediting agencies
- Manage the daily operations of the Writing Center
- Assist students in developing their writing skills and achieving their academic goals
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the Writing Center
- Train and supervise writing instructors
- Work with the English Division Chair to continuously improve English Learning Support courses
- Develop and maintain a collection of writing resources, including guides, templates, and reference materials
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote the Writing Center's services
- Develop marketing materials and maintain the online presence for the center
- Implement assessment tools to measure the effectiveness and impact of the Writing Center's services
- Engage with the local community and external organizations to expand outreach and collaborative opportunities
- Teach 15 credit hours or equivalent per year as assigned (day, evening or weekend) at one or more of the Georgia Highlands College locations and/or online. Dual Enrollment and studio classes may require additional locations
- Maintain timely and proper communication with students, faculty, and staff of the college via phone, email, and other electronic means
- Manage courses through systematic use of appropriate syllabi and accurate, professional records of students¿ class performance, attendance and grades
- Announce and keep regular office hours in accordance with college policy
- Adopt and implement common course objectives as prescribed by the division and the discipline
- Regularly review and update instructional materials based on new information, research, or discoveries in the discipline or in pedagogical approaches to teaching in the discipline
- Engage in the evaluation and revision of division/school curricula; ensure assessment activities are conducted in a timely manner
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a master's degree in a course of study in the academic school.
- Educational requirement is determined by the faculty level.
Proposed Salary
$48,000 - $50,00
