Student Employment Specialist
Job Description
The Student Employment Specialist provides educational, professional, and career development to students to inspire and empower them to achieve their career goals. This position is responsible for working with students to provide Campus and College-Wide Career Services. This includes one-on-one coaching and guiding students in developing career and/or employment goals. The specialist is responsible for supporting specific Career Technical programs which include work-based learning by providing a link between the College and business, industry, the public and employers.
In addition, the Student Employment Specialist develops and fosters professional work relationships with college faculty and academic advisors to ensure department services meet student and college needs. Services could include coordinating events such as job fairs, conducting workshops and classroom presentations for students on subjects such as job readiness, career development, current economic and employment conditions, job search skills, portfolio development, interviewing and networking. Incumbents in this job classification make independent decisions regarding how to provide these services based on student and program needs.
The Student Employment Specialist will need to have a working knowledge of current labor market trends, Equal Employment Opportunity laws, and other local, state, and federal laws pertaining to employment. Specialists develop and foster professional working relationships with employers, temporary services, employment agencies and industry representatives to ensure consistent contact for job leads within the community. Because of this, Employment Specialists will be expected to make public presentations in variable group settings.

Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Communications or related field. Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)
