Job Description

The School of Accountancy in the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University invites applications for multiple part-time Faculty Associate positions for academic year 2023-2024.

The successful candidate(s) will teach in-person or online courses, prepare course materials, evaluate student work, and assist students. Faculty Associate positions are 1-2 fall or spring session(s), non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed .40 FTE. The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.

Essential Functions: The candidate must contribute to the School of Accountancy’s mission in the area of teaching and must be able and willing to teach accounting courses to undergraduate and/or graduate students.

Working Environment: Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled classroom setting subject to extended periods of standing, lecturing, facilitating classroom activities. Occasional activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.

Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, copier, and associated computer/technology peripherals.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 1) A master’s degree in accounting, taxation, business administration, or related field; or CPA certification or other related major professional certification; 2) Potential for teaching excellence at the undergraduate or graduate level as evidenced by organization and communication skills; 3) A record of scholarship as evidenced by professional experience and/or academic experience within the accounting profession with an active learning agenda.

Desired Qualifications: 1) Potential for or demonstrated excellence in teaching accounting courses; 2) Significant service and professional contributions to the accounting profession; 3) Experience with training and industry partnerships; 4) CPA certification or other related major professional certification.
