Job Description

 

The UC Irvine Student Health Center is a comprehensive outpatient clinic staffed with licensed primary care physicians, psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, dentists, physician assistants, registered nurse practitioners, and registered nurses. Medical specialists from various disciplines including dermatology, orthopedics/sports medicine, gynecology, internal medicine, and ENT provide on-site consultation on a regular basis. Student Health also offers basic radiology and clinical laboratory services, insurance consultation, and an on-site pharmacy, making SHC a comprehensive and convenient clinic dedicated to serving students.

Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the HR Generalist is responsible for the effective management of all staff personnel and payroll actions for the Student Health Center (SHC) and subsidiary clinics. The position will maintain statistical data, personnel and payroll records, and will serve as the Student Health Center’s coordinating point for personnel and payroll actions. Applies professional human resources, organization policies and procedures to provide guidance to supervisors and managers to resolve a variety of human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity.

$29.26 - $40.28 (Hourly Rate) Expected Pay Range within the Full Salary Range $29.26 - $51.29 (Hourly Rate)

 


Required:

Three to five years of human resources experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations; demonstrates organizational skills and problem-solving skills. Has working knowledge of other areas of HR. Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures and knowledge of functional area. Basic knowledge of human resources policies and programs, and how they affect other organizational policies and procedures. Knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), and / or other related business software programs and systems. Demonstrated computer skills; including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, E-mail, web browser software. Proficient in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing and in integrating information in the completion of assignments. Demonstrated ability to handle difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively. Must be highly organized and detail oriented, resourceful and possess exceptional level of tact and diplomacy. Ability to handle projects independently, with absolute confidentiality and sensitivity to campus policies. General knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Ability to set priorities independently to reflect relative importance of job responsibilities. Skill to independently investigate issues and to compile report and project materials. Analytical skills to effectively organize and analyze complex personnel data, as well as various government and university regulations, and make recommendations.

 


Preferred:

Demonstrated experience using the UCPath. Demonstrated knowledge of university personnel/payroll policies and procedures.

 


Special Conditions Required:

This position’s schedule is M-F and during traditional work hours, however, weekend or non-traditional work hours may be required for special projects or busy times of the year, or when strict deadlines must be met. In the case of extended hours, this position may be required to work those hours. Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of a Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan background check, verification and continued monitoring or licensure as it applies to the position, and successful completion of our background review or credentialing process, as appropriate to the position. The employee must comply with OSHA, CA/OSHA, and CDC recommendations and requirements regarding vaccination and testing of healthcare employees. This includes, but may not be limited to; current hepatitis B immunizations, annual flu vaccinations, and annual tuberculosis screening. The employee must comply with CDPH and UC COVID-19 Vaccine Policy, by providing proof of Full Vaccination or submitting a request for Exception. Per the UC Ethics Briefing, the employee is responsible for reporting any and all potential conflicts of interest to their supervisor in a timely manner.
