Position Summary

This is a temporary, non-benefits eligible position. This position is on an as-needed basis when the college is unable to back-fill a short-term classroom absence with existing staff. The position will run for approximately four weeks starting January 16th, 2024. The position is specifically for: HUM 242, Humanities II, VIDCF, TR, 5:30 to 6:45 pm.

 


Position Summary:
The position works with the content area faculty and/or instructor they are substituting for to deliver curriculum content with rigor and professional enthusiasm. The guest instructor has the documented academic and experience background to effectively understand and convey the content to students.


  • This role references and follows the syllabus provided by the instructor of record for the course. This may include proctoring tests, group work, labs, issuing homework assignments and projects, grading assignments, projects and classroom work.
  • This role will maintain detailed notes for the instructor of record to ensure clear lines of communication.
  • This role will follow all College and department policies and procedures
  • This position is effective working with a culturally diverse employee and student base in a positive and professional manner
  • The position reports to the Lead Faculty of the content area and is considered an at-will temporary employee.

Salary Range: Hiring pay is $33.00 per hour taught and also for prep time at 1/2 hour for every hour in class.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The ability to provide the instruction specified in the course curriculum and syllabus in the modalities required of the class and students.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to teach the assigned course effectively and aligned to content outcomes.
Demonstrated knowledge of the content area.
Ability to maintain professional ethics and mandatory regulations such as Title IX and Ferpa
Ability to work in a diverse environment (age, gender, ethnicity, veteran status, ability status). Skilled at operating standard classroom equipment
Skilled with online collaboration systems such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or similar
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (written and verbal)
Bi-Lingual is a plus

 
 
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in the discipline area being taught; OR
Master's Degree in related discipline and 18 graduate level (500 level or higher) credits in the discipline area being taught.
