Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette (PPCW) is hiring a Philanthropy Officer to join our Development team!

PPCW is the largest non-profit family planning and reproductive rights organization in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

The Philanthropy Officer plays an integral role in identifying qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, with a focus on community-centric fundraising and ensuring application of an equity lens in all areas. The Philanthropy Officer is responsible for developing relationships with current and prospective donors to achieve fundraising goals that support the long-term health of the organization. They will represent PPCW through cultivation and stewardship efforts and events, while educating and informing donors about PPCW’s programmatic goals, campaigns, successes, and future endeavors.

Compensation: Starting rate of pay is $67,500 annually or more, depending upon experience.

Schedule: Full-time (40 hrs/wk)​ Monday – Friday.

  • Employees may be requested or required to occasionally work other days (including weekends), hours and locations to meet operational needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience with direct, individual face-to-face solicitations within higher education, health care, social service, or similar nonprofit organization.
  • Proven success in prospect management and individual gift solicitation.
  • Demonstrated experience working with donor database software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge/NXT donor database software.
  • Familiarity with the work of Planned Parenthood and/or the reproductive health movement.
  • Evidence of education or lived experience in equity and inclusion work and/or community-centric fundraising

Essential Functions:

Fundraising & Donor Management

  • Employing community-centric fundraising principles, develop and implement strategies to successfully build and independently manage a dynamic portfolio of 100-125 prospects and donors in all phases of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Lead the cultivation, and solicitation of a portfolio of prospects and donors to grow annual gifts and signature event gifts of $5,000 and more, and to solicit and grow legacy gifts and multi-year commitments.
  • Conduct regular communications to build relationships with current and prospective donors through mail, email, phone, virtual meetings, in-person meetings, and events.
  • Develop concepts and messages, write solicitation proposals for individual prospects and donors; oversee preparation of solicitation planning materials for meetings. Prepare agreements.

Fundraising Support and Collaboration:

  • Work with Development team leaders and PPCW’s executive leadership on their solicitation or stewardship opportunities, including preparing briefing materials in advance of donor or prospect meetings and compiling follow-up proposals and materials.
  • Work in coordination with the Philanthropy Coordinator on portfolio qualifications and moves management; donor engagement and stewardship events and opportunities; and donor talking points.
  • Collaborate with VP of Development, Director of Philanthropy, and other department team members on strategies for major gifts, campaigns, and planned gifts.
  • Collaborate with health center staff throughout PPCW to coordinate donor site visits.
  • Represent the organization by attending PPCW events virtually and in-person throughout Oregon and SW Washington; attend fundraising house parties, events and speaking engagements with PPCW executive leadership or Board of Directors as needed.
  • Coordinate as necessary with PPCW’s Finance department regarding pledge payments and reporting and other financial matters.
  • Other duties as required to meet organizational and fundraising goals.
