Job Description

Clover Park Technical College (CPTC) is seeking a highly-skilled and innovative instructor to build a supportive environment for adult learners in our Accounting program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with the program’s diverse student body, helping support the colleges work to cultivate an inclusive culture and campus climate by valuing diversity, sustaining an environment of belonging, and promoting equitable opportunities for all. The successful candidate will work to eliminate equity gaps and help students succeed in their chosen career path and in what is an increasingly diverse work environment.

Well qualified applicants should be enthusiastic about continuously working to keep curriculum relevant, researching and implementing the latest theories and practices in Accounting to best prepare students for the dynamic career that awaits them. Successful applicants will possess the ability to work on a dynamic team that is innovating modalities and technical instruction.

The successful candidate will work in collaboration with other faculty in the Accounting program and carry out functions related to the position as described below. The candidate will work collaboratively with advising and other student services to best support student success. Additionally, the successful candidate will work collaboratively as an active participant in our shared governance processes.

This Position is paid at a Per Credit Rate of $860.29

This position's duties are performed in person on our Lakewood campus.
This position is represented by the Clover Park Federation of Teachers, Local 3913, AFT/ AFT Washington

Duties and Tasks (Essential Functions)

Duty: Provide both classroom and online instruction utilizing a variety of teaching techniques to prepare students for entry-level employment.
Tasks include:

  • Create, implement, and modify curriculum as required to meet learning outcomes.
  • Maintain and manage classroom environment, equipment, tools and supplies.
  • Create learning opportunities and instructional strategies for the course(s).
  • Develop and complete student assessments.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of professionalism and mutual respect with students.
  • Model professionalism and employability skills.
  • Maintain accurate student and other records.
  • Maintain a safe environment through instruction, policy and continuous evaluation of the learning environment.
  • Provide career guidance and job placement assistance.
  • Assess and provide student learning feedback.
  • Provide office hours for student advising
  • Submit student grades in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or related field with significant coursework in Accounting) from an accredited college or university with a minimum or three (3) years’ experience in the field.
  • Experience with or willingness to gain experience with teaching and developing coursework online.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs, Quickbooks, learning management systems (LMS) and other appropriate instructional technologies.
  • Ability to pass a Criminal History Background Check.
  • The ability to contribute to the college’s commitment to diversity fostering a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Experience teaching in an on-line environment, with such Learning Management Systems (LMS) as Canvas

Clover Park Technical College is located in Lakewood, Washington. Our college has a rich history of professional and technical education dating back to the 1940s, when Clover Park School District established a War Production program, training civilians as auto mechanics, aircraft-service mechanics, ship-fitters, welders, and blueprint readers. Now, CPTC offers more than forty programs in Aerospace, Advanced Manufacturing, Health Sciences, Human Services, Business, Hospitality, Science Technology, Engineering, Transportation, and Trades.
