Job Description:


New River Community College (NRCC) is a comprehensive community college located in the New River Valley of Virginia. Responsibilities of the Media Specialist Manager include:
  • Manage the development, production, and direction of television and video production of the college.
  • Evaluate and recommend purchases to meet the video production and media services needs and maintain a departmental budget.
  • Manage the implementation, installation, and maintenance of all equipment in electronic classrooms, auditoriums, and boardrooms.
  • Manage the creation and delivery of broadcast-quality multimedia programming for various distribution avenues.
  • Oversee all live audio/video/light production of events held on campus.
  • Supervise part-time and student workers.
  • Manage training of all audio/visual equipment used in the college’s facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Technology Services Manager.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer and audio/visual equipment, as well as equipment associated with electronic classrooms.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with AV control systems.
  • Familiarity with AV tools and platforms (such as Cat5, Cat 6, SDI, BNC termination, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with broadcast production switcher technology (such as Broadcast Pix, NewTek, AJA, Black Magic, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with sound production and mixing consoles.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Windows, Mac OS, iOS, and Android devices.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner in a team-oriented environment.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
The following factors may also be given consideration:
  • Experience working with and deploying audio-visual systems in higher education settings.
  • Demonstrated experience with Crestron and Extron platforms or equivalent.
  • Experience directing sound, lights, and video during live productions.
