Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with Professor Jake Simon and join a dynamic group of researchers studying how planets and planetary systems are born. More specifically, the researcher will work on numerical and/or theoretical studies in the general area of planet formation and will also have the opportunity to collaborate directly with observers to test specific aspects of planet formation theory. There may also be opportunities to co-advise graduate and/or undergraduate students.  


Required Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Astronomy, Physics, or a related field.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in computational astrophysics.

Experience in planet formation.

September 3, 2024


Proposed End Date or Length of Term:
September 2, 2026


Number of Months Employed Per Year:
12 Month Work Period
