Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Director for the Dean’s Office within the Rutgers School of Public Health.
The Program Director is primarily responsible for all operational and administrative aspects of all faculty and staff personnel services and will manage a team responsible for human resources and faculty affairs. This person will work in coordination with the Chief Operating Officer/Chief of Staff to implement policies and procedures related to faculty and staff, including but not limited to, hiring, termination, evaluations, appointments and promotions, tenure. Individual will also serve as part of the Dean’s leadership team, and provide direction for the management of the School.
Duties include:
  • Leads, directs, and coordinates all aspects of human resources and faculty affairs for the School of Public Health (SPH) with collegiality and collaboration.
  • Serves as a member of the Dean’s Cabinet and Leadership teams.
  • Serves as a spokesperson and advocate for SPH.
  • In partnership with SPH Leadership, provide vision, leadership, coordination and strategic oversight regarding equity, diversity and inclusion initiative.
  • Recommends and implements forward-thinking policies and structures designed to maximize faculty and staff engagement and experience.
  • Directs all faculty and staff personnel transactions for the School of Public Health.
  • Works with Chief Operating Officer/Chief of Staff in developing strategic hiring plan for the School based on the
    School’s strategic plan:
    a. direct, develop, and oversee faculty and staff onboarding
    b. develop handbooks for faculty and staff hiring/onboarding
  • Ensures that faculty and staff development, learning, and effectiveness programs are best-in-class and seen as high
    priorities for the organization

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum of ten years in operational experience in higher education administration.
  • Experience working in Human Resources capacity in a unionized environment.
  • At least five (5) years shall have been in a senior managerial capacity.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
