Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Specialist for the Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC). 
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Performs all primary business functions related to the Clinical Research Data Warehouse (CRDW) including knowledge of and assistance with the fee and rate template, working with iLab, taking in and tracking funds, collaboration with technical teams, customer business support and communication.
  • Regular budget forecasting and maintenance for all OARC-related accounts, developing accurate, realistic, timely, and fiscally sound budget forecasts, reconciling budgets regularly.
  • Maintenance of budgets and accounts for grant-funded programs, as well as tracking and managing the effort and resulting funds of OARC staff named on/actively contributing to internal (departmental) and external grants, including ECRT (Effort Certification).
  • Expense management report assistance, preparer when necessary, including managing travel advances and reconciliation.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
  • A minimum of two years relevant experience in a financial/accounting function, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Should be self-reliant, an independent worker and thinker, and exercise sound professional judgment in addition to having the ability to work with a variety of offices and personalities.
  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously and adhere to deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advance knowledge of and proficiency in using and understanding the Rutgers Cornerstone administrative systems including Jaggaer/Marketplace, Oracle Cloud Financial Management, Expense Management, PeopleSoft Management, ROCs, RAPPS, Discoverer Viewer, and others, as is experience working with grants.
  • Knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices in an academic research setting.
  • Advanced competency with Excel, as are other computing skills such as working in databases and with spreadsheets.
