Job Summary
The candidate is expected to engage in experimental design projects and related process work including preparation of the necessary tool-path design for autonomous automated robotic construction, structural decisions such as placement of reinforcing agents for the execution of 3D concrete printed structures of various scales. The candidate will also help with preparation of applications for funding and reports to the funding agencies.
It is expected that the candidate will have and important role in teaching and oversight responsibilities for graduate students who will engage the research team. Applicants must have some experience working at the Ph.D. level and at least 3 published peer-reviewed articles related to the 3D Concrete Printing (3DCP) technology, development of algorithms and be familiar with execution and analytic software.

Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Architecture focused on parametric Design and Design and Digital Construction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the interrelationship between printing systems, materials, and design, Ability to write scholarly papers and reports.
  • Ability to write algorithms, expertise in digital design and construction, seeking funding sources, and ability to write grant applications.
Working Conditions
Special Conditions for Eligibility
  • Knowledge of Shape Grammar, Design Computing, 3D-printing of concrete, familiarity with and working with a variety of 3D-printable concrete mixtures, range of behavior and performance under various environmental conditions, translating CAD drawings to Robotic code and language and Tool-path design options, and immediate adjustments needed based on material performance.
