The Adjunct Clinical Faculty is responsible for SUNY Corning Community College Nurse Education Department. We are currently seeking experienced Registered Nurses to teach as adjunct clinical faculty in our highly regarded ADN program for Spring and Fall 2024 semesters. Positions are open supervising students in a variety of clinical settings on weekdays and weekends. These positions involve teaching on one or two clinical days weekly, plus possibly making patient/student assignments the day before clinical instruction. Other responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to conducting student conference meetings, collaborating with faculty and clinical colleagues for student placements, record keeping, grading assignments, and meetings.

Essential Functions

 

  • Plan student clinical experiences in conjunction with course teaching team.
  • Communicate plan and student learning objectives to appropriate agency staff.
  • Provide clinical supervision and guidance for nursing students.
  • Evaluate student progress towards achievement of learning objectives.
  • Provide opportunities for students to receive feedback on their progress and assist students with identified areas of concern.
  • Conduct pre and post conference in clinical area.
  • Attend and contribute to course planning/coordinating meetings.
  • Attend Faculty and Program Curriculum meetings.
  • Select and post student clinical assignments before the clinical experience.
  • Attend and contribute to end of semester agency conference.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Minimum of two years of recent full-time clinical experience in medical-surgical, critical care, maternity, step down unit, or emergency department.
  • Current NY and/or PA RN licensure.
  • Current knowledge of nursing practice for the pre-licensure RN student.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in team environment.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative atmosphere among students, faculty, and staff.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office; experience with or ability to learn educational technology.
  • An MSN is preferred, however, nurses with a BSN who will complete a MSN within five years will be considered.
  • Two years of related clinical experience is required.
  • Must be eligible for RN licensure in Pennsylvania and/or New York.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Master's degree in Nursing is preferred and should be in area of nursing specialization or a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing with progress towards completion of a Master's Degree In Nursing (must be completed within three years of hire)
  • Unencumbered Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York or Pennsylvania.
  • Two years of recent full-time clinical nursing experience is required.
